Some Marvel- grade stuff!

Hey there!

Most of us grew up watching and reading about Marvel heroes (DC too!). But the superheroes of those comics aren't what we see today through CGI magic. Time has given our superheroes lots of upgrades and one such hero is Deadpool.

But this one ain't about that *bleeping* son of a *bleep*.
This is about Francis Freeman aka Ajax, Posh Spice, A British Villain, British Shitstick, Cockfissle, Muppet Fart, Dickless, Francesca, Shit-spackled and Basil Fawlty.
Ajax (born Francis Freeman) was a human who gained immunity to pain and enhanced reflexes from an augmentation program.
Let's just cut to the chase. How great would it be if you had immunity to pain, huh?

Well, it's possible and there are people who experience this!

But this cool upgrade comes with a lot, and I mean a LOT of suffering.
People with Familial Dysautonomia are supposed to be immune to pain! This is sometimes called Riley- Day Syndrome.
People who understand the crap Wikipedia gives can read the next paragraph, others can skip to the human language given in the proceeding paragraph.

Riley- Day syndrome is a disorder of the autonomic nervous system which affects the development and survival of sensory, sympathetic and some parasympathetic neurons in the autonomic and sensory nervous system resulting in variable symptoms, including insensitivity to pain, inability to produce tears, poor growth, and labile blood pressure (episodic hypertension and postural hypotension). People with FD have frequent vomiting crises, pneumonia, problems with speech and movement, difficulty swallowing, inappropriate perception of heat, pain, and taste, as well as unstable blood pressure and gastrointestinal dysmotility.

Basically, people with this disorder are insensitive to pain, cannot produce tears, have poor growth and have blood pressure issues.

Death can occur from pneumonia, acute respiratory failure, or sudden cardiopulmonary arrest in such patients.

So that's what you have to go through to be immune to pain! Decide, is pain your friend or enemy?
